Meggy is a new, mid-early variety (ripening time similar to Aprica and Falco) that impresses with consistently large, firm, and aromatic fruit. The extremely robust plant exhibits low susceptibility to powdery mildew and good tolerance on depleted strawberry soils, making it particularly attractive for organic cultivation and commercial production. Growers benefit from top yields and highly efficient harvesting thanks to the open plant structure. This variety is versatile for open fields and ideal for raised beds or protected cultivation.

A new variety bred by Stefan Kraege specifically for protected cultivation, Aylin boasts very high yields. It falls within the mid-yielding range, similar to varieties like Sonsation. The fruits are uniformly shaped and have a beautiful sheen, resulting in an overall excellent skin appearance. Initial trials in Austria have shown no particular susceptibility to disease; however, preventative treatment against powdery mildew is recommended. It should also be noted that the fruit skin becomes more sensitive at high temperatures.

Currently, only tray or plugplants of the Aylin variety are available.

Korona is a mid-ripening strawberry variety, similar in ripening time to Elsanta. It boasts beautiful, dark red, cone-shaped berries. These juicy strawberries impress with their excellent flavor. The variety is highly productive, although it tends to produce smaller berries in the second half of the harvest. The plant has dark foliage, moderate growth, and a loose, open structure. The berries are easy to pick and very well suited for processing. It is recommended to cultivate the plant as an annual. Note that it is susceptible to leaf spot diseases. Due to its characteristics, Korona is particularly well-suited for processing.

Elsanta is an upright plant that is quite wide and sufficiently open. It should be noted that this variety is susceptible to soil-borne diseases and is no longer recommended for propagation.

It is also well-suited for soils that are already depleted for strawberry cultivation, as it can thrive even with limited nutrients.

The strawberry variety Sonata is a viable alternative to Elsanta for mid-season ripening. Its fruits are uniformly well-shaped, with good size and firmness. The fruit is sweet with a typical strawberry aroma and a beautiful sheen. This variety differs from Elsanta in its higher blossom set and uniform fruit size. While the skin is firm, it is somewhat susceptible to bruising. Sonata produces very good yields, though slightly lower than Elsanta. Sonata is more resistant to powdery mildew than Elsanta. When cultivating it, attention should be paid to its susceptibility to Phytophthora cactorum. Sonata is well-suited for use in a timed cropping system, as a waiting bed plant, or in refrigerated storage (Frigo A+).
